Sites
National Constitutional Center - this site gives you a search engine that works within a copy of the U.S. Constitution. It also gives access to Supreme Court cases which I would have loved when teaching junior high Social Studies: http://ratify.constitutioncenter.org/constitution/index_no_flash.php
Heart Mountain Education Site - This site was once an internment camp for Japanese Americans during the Second World War. I found that this kind of information is lacking in many of our social studies materials and was glad to see a site dedicated to that time and people. It has some disturbing material, but what WW2 site doesn't: http://www.heartmountain.org/index.html
History Pin - April Weston were talking about this yesterday and I found this site that looks very cool. It is an international collaborative site (so you can use those tech standards!) and has a link for educators (near the bottom) on how they might use it in their classroom. The idea is to take personal pictures from places around the world and Pin them to an interactive map with information about the pictures. I've looked at our region and there aren't any historical or recent pictures posted. This might be a cool tool for an oral history project (the site goes back to about 1840)...http://www.historypin.com/
History of Education in America - Do you have a graduate class or an argument about education that you need some more ammo on? PBS did a series on the history of education, it is not exhaustive but does have some nice 'info bits' that can be thrown about: http://www.pbs.org/kcet/publicschool/index.html

Technology Integration Sites
The Henry Ford Museum - digital tools dealing with innovations, the site will give students an opportunity to create their own museum exhibition. I figure this is a great site for those teaching about simple machines, physics, and want to integrate art into their science/social studies curriculum: http://oninnovation.com/education/innovation-101.aspx
Google Searching: Mind shift - this is an online magazine presenting ideas on effective technology integration and 21st Century skills for educators and students. It has some wonderful information: http://mindshift.kqed.org/2011/09/cracking-the-code-to-the-best-google-search/
